Since 2006 was the “Year of the Dog” in the Chinese calendar, (and when we started this web site), we thought we’d dedicate a page in honor of our three Minature Schnauzers.

Cozette was born in Mississippi, June 25,1993, and died in Crockett, Texas on Sept. 11, 2007 at the age of 14. She was our second dog, following our first, Misha, who died of cancer in 1998. Together with Misha, Cozette had four puppies. Solid white and nick named “Puff,” Cozette’s favorite place was nestled next to Debbie. Cozette was a gentle, sweet and loving dog who was always in touch with her inner puppy. She was very well loved and will be greatly missed.

Sparky was born in Tipton County, Tennessee, February 26, 1998. Sparky is three toned with beautiful markings of charcoal grey, grey, and white. While not the sharpest tool in the shed, Sparky is as loving and gentle a dog as can be. Unfortunately, he is equally loud, barking incessantly to the point relatives renamed him “Barky.” Sparky is playful yet very timid, seeking a hiding place from loud noises like thunder and fireworks. He is fiercely loyal, easy and gentle when at home with the family, and a not so silent alarm when the door bell rings!

Our third dog was not planned- she was an accident waiting to happen. Sheba was born in Huntsville on January 25, 2003. Following the unexpected loss of a pet cat, we purchased Sheba for Debbie’s mom. Unfortunately, the remaining cat and Sheba didn’t hit it off, so we wound up keeping her with us. Sheba exists for the most part in her own little world, a full grown tiger in the body of a little dog, constantly seeking to explore the woods and neighborhood beyond the confines of her own yard. She has also suffered two broken legs during her first six months, and we often wondered if she would survive to see her first birthday. Sheba has quicly become part of the family. She is solid black and a very beautiful dog. She has the perpetual energy of a puppy and is constantly starting something up with Sparky- or laying on top of him! Sheba’s constant excitability has earned her the nick-name “wild thing.”

Misha was the first dog that Debbie and I brought into our family, just a few months after we were married. Misha was a loving, intelligent, and beautiful dog, and his untimely death to cancer was a bitter loss. We still remember how he used to hide underneath Jeff's shirts in the closet, how he cried so horribly the first night we got him that we brought him into the bedroom, how he loved to go for a ride, and how gentle and tender he was with the puppies. We can only hope that when Misha passed away, he knew how much he was loved.
